The mark of a true friend is rarely shown in the sharing of the best of times, but rather by his faithful lifting up when things are at their worst. Sometimes, however, the most comforting and supportive hand is actually a paw.
Here to prove that is a sweet, loyal service dog named Samson. His human companion, Danielle Jacobs, has Asperger's syndrome - a "mild" form of autism associated with bouts of depression and self-harm behavior, the likes of which few unfamiliar with her condition will ever fully understand. But through these depressive episodes, known as "meltdowns," she is never alone.
Jacobs has bravely shared a powerful video to show what life is like for her during these dark moments, and the remarkable role Samson's love and light plays in guiding her through them.
