The Honorable Penny Pritzker
Secretary of Commerce
Email: TheSec[at]DOC[dot]gov Dear Madam Secretary, My Name is Jonah Bryson, and I am a 15-year-old American who is concerned about his future and the future of our planet. I have devoted much of my time and passion to making the world a better place. And at this point in time, with what we know, I am shocked that policy-makers still allow others to contribute to the extinction of species and depletion of biodiversity.
I have great appreciation for the work NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) has done in fighting climate change and for gathering great data that allows people to understand the current status of our world. Therefore, they must know about the depletion of shark, that their population has diminished by over 90%, and that they are crucial to the health of our oceans -- our life support system. Like my good friend Dr. Sylvia Earle often says: "No oceans, no life. No blue, no green".
