Family Gets Shocking Proof That They've Been Sharing Their Home With Snakes

That was unexpected 😲

The other day, a family in Australia came to learn something new about their home — namely, that it wasn’t theirs alone.

Turns out, more than a few snakes had been slithering about unseen there. The alarming evidence they’d left behind left little doubt of that.

The family had evidently had their suspicions that a snake or two might be living somewhere in their residence (it is Australia, after all). They’d contacted Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, a snake relocating service, to perform an inspection inside their roof space.

So, were there any signs that a snake or two had been up there?

“Well, to be completely honest, there has been a couple ... at least!” Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 wrote.

The snakes had left their skins. And they’d shed a lot of skin.

“[Our inspector] brought down over 30 snake skins out of the family's roof space, and there was probably another 20 skins up there,” the company wrote.

It’s unclear if any snakes were still around at the time of the inspection, but judging from that shocking find, the roof space has been a cozy hideaway for quite a while.

No word on how grownups in the family took the news, but as Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 reports: “The kids at the house loved it.”

The snakes may have been uninvited housemates, but that’s not to say their unseen presence has been entirely unwelcome.

Snakes, of course, shed their skin when they grow, and they grow because they eat. The snakes in this family’s home had apparently found plenty there to munch on.

And, according to Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, that means having them around is something to be thankful for.

“Snakes are great to have in your roof as they eat all the rodents,” the company wrote. “Who doesn’t love free pest control!”
