Rescuers Chase Cow For 4 Hours Just So They Can Save Her

An injured cow, terrified and bleeding, ran from a group of people for hours - because she had absolutely no idea that they were trying to save her life.

Volunteers from Animal Aid Unlimited, an animal rescue group in India, were made aware of a cow living at the city dump who was slowly being strangled to death by a piece of rope tied tightly around her neck. Rescuers went to the site and scoured the herd of cows ...

... until they found her.

As if the dozens of cows living among trash weren't distressing enough, the cow with the rope around her neck was clearly suffering.

The volunteers knew that as soon as they approached the cows they would scatter, so they needed to be extremely prepared. "Right now our rescuers are planning over there because the cow is really active and we only have one chance to catch her today," one of the volunteers said in the rescue video.

As predicted, the cows ran away as soon as the rescuers came too close, including the injured one.

They chased her over hills ...

... and back again. The dump and surrounding area was huge and smelled terrible, but nobody gave up. The dedicated members of Animal Aid Unlimited pursued the cow, just wanting to help her, for nearly four hours.

And finally, after all that effort ...

... they were able to catch her, and bring her to get the help she so desperately needed.

Rescuers removed the rope from around the cow's neck as soon as they could. They discovered that the rope had been deeply embedded in the cow's neck from being tied so tightly, and the wound had become infested with bugs.

Rescuers poured a medicinal powder into the wound to kill the bugs before thoroughly cleaning it out and bandaging it up.

Her injuries were serious, but as soon as she began to receive treatment and love, she also began to heal.

Four weeks later, the cow who had been heartlessly left for dead at the city dump was completely healed, and clearly loving her new life.

If this cow's rescuers had given up after the first, second or even third hour of trying to catch her, she never would have known what it means to feel safe and loved.

Because of the rescuers' dedication to animals, this cow gets to live happily, and that is worth as much effort as it takes.
