"You're happiest while you're making the greatest contribution." Robert F. Kennedy ✽✾❃❇❈✥ Heather Hancock is lifelong activist. She has lobbied on city, state and national levels. She has marched and attended hundreds of protests and has marched on Washington D.C. three times. She has been jailed and received death-threats. She holds true to her values and principles; principles that embody universal compassion. "Universal compassion." The word “universal” means that it applies to all people and all beings indiscriminately. So to practice universal compassion is to have compassion for all people and all beings, without exception. “I’m often ‘accused’ of being on the payroll of various animal charities…” Heather says “It’s astonishing to me—astonishing—that there are people who think one would only be engaged in dialog/activism for profit. While I would be proud to work for any number of them, I have a career and therefore work on a volunteer level only.” I will do what it takes to get the truth out there; to help those who are suffering by doing so. Truth matters; it really and truly does.” ❇❈❇❈ “The wicked flee when no man pursues them, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” -- Proverbs 28:1. No one could accuse Heather of being indifferent [!] She has been involved in numerous (too many to count) human rights issues. She has worked with the homeless, abused kids and women, AIDS, the hungry and civil rights for all Americans and more. She was arrested for protesting dangerous nuclear testing in Nevada that crippled local communities with traceable cancer cases due to this testing. Whole families were stricken with deadly cancers and devastated. Although she’s more famous for her animal rights activism, her activism for our species has been just as active. “It’s just that there’s not enough activists for non-human animals as there are for human animals—and for me; I derive the most spiritual goodness from helping those that can never thank me.” “Every animal activist I know is the same way; they do tireless work for all—but are accused of just ‘caring about animals’ from people who in my experience do nothing for nobody.” “They scream at you; why don’t you do this or that (something we’re already doing) and they themselves are doing nothing.” They’re not getting arrested in the Nevada desert; they’re not feeding the homeless—but they get plenty mad at you that you want to stop the horror of the fur industry or protect animals from painful, unnecessary, outdated and cruel experiments. It’s fascinating really. When universal compassion is the way. It’s the ‘way, the truth, and the light’ if you think about it. Cause if there’s one thing Jesus was for it was universal compassion! Jesus was a radical nonviolent revolutionary who hung around with the least of these… & took every opportunity to help and demonstrate grace. “Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.” Leo F. Buscaglia “You may call God love, you may call God goodness. But the best name for God is compassion.” ❦❥❧ - Meister Eckhart “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” ~Albert Einstein ❦❥❧ “I always tell people regarding animal activism etc.; what if we erred on the side of caution? What if instead of making {tidy, safe} excuses for hurting God’s creation, we instead truly erred on the side of caution and treated them with grace and compassion and love? Kind of like a nonviolent revolutionary.” "Happy are those who find wisdom, and those who get understanding." ❦❥❧ -- Proverbs 3:13 Just a thought. “Why should man expect his prayer for mercy to be heard by What is above him when he shows no mercy to what is under him?” ~Pierre Troubetzkoy ✵❥✵➸✵❤✵➹
