Puppy Playing In The Woods Takes A Very Wrong Turn

She waited so patiently for help to arrive 💛

Zella, a 16-week-old, very playful little puppy, was running around through the woods in her backyard on Sunday morning while her family followed closely behind her. Suddenly, she ran near an old, dried-up well …

… and accidentally fell 8 feet down to the bottom.

The well was too narrow and deep for Zella to climb out on her own, and her family was unfortunately unable to reach her. They immediately called 911, wanting to get her out of there as soon as possible. The South Killingly Fire Department, located in Danielson, Connecticut, quickly responded to the call, as they had special expertise with the kind of rescue Zella needed.

“South Killingly Fire Department runs a joint technical rescue team that consists of firefighters from other area departments that have specialized training in rope rescue and confined space emergencies,” Joseph Lee, captain of the South Killingly Fire Department, told The Dodo.

After arriving at the well and assessing the situation, the team used their equipment to lower one of the firefighters down into the well …

… where he grabbed Zella and then carefully carried her back up to safety.

The whole rescue took under half an hour, and Zella’s family were overjoyed to have her back above ground with them, safe and sound.

“The dog was happy and uninjured,” Lee said. “The owner has been praising us on social media and is very thankful.”
