Man Recreates 'Lion King' Scene To Introduce His Puppy To The World

"I wanted a grandiose and stupidly over-the-top way to announce Charlie to the world."

Andy Camera just got a new puppy named Charlie — and like any proud pet owner, he wanted to let everyone in on that happy news.

Rather than simply write some run-of-the-mill post to his friends on social media about it, however, Camera got creative. Inspired by the opening of Disney's "The Lion King," arguably one of the most memorable birth-announcement scenes in film history, Camera decided to recreate it in its entirety.

Charlie, of course, was cast in the leading role.

Camera had been eager to get a dog for a while, but only recently did he move into a place that would be suitable for a pet. So, it only made sense that his puppy's debut should be as epic as his own excitement about finally having a furry new companion.

"I wanted a grandiose and stupidly over-the-top way to announce Charlie to the world, so the intro to 'The Lion King' sprung into my head!" Camera told The Dodo.

Making the video took some time and a bit of know-how, and a makeshift green screen, but the pup was more than happy to play along. After filming the scene, he was thoroughly tuckered out, says Camera: "While Charlie was having a king-sized nap, I did the editing and uploaded the video."

And with that, a star was born.

In just a matter of days, Charlie has racked up thousands of followers on Instagram, leading Camera to concede on his own page: "My puppy is way more popular than me."

Charlie apparently just couldn't wait to be king.
