Parrot Flies Into Tree To Explore And Accidentally Gets Himself Stuck
A LOT of people came together to save him 👏🏿
Zazu the parrot was flying around his house one day when he accidentally got out, and decided to fly up into a nearby tree for safety. But he quickly got himself tangled in some branches — and no matter how hard he tried, he wasn’t able to free himself and fly back down. It took his dad a day of searching to realize Zazu had flown up into the tree, and as soon as he spotted him, he quickly called the RSPCA for help.
The RSPCA responded to the call, eager to help Zazu, but rescuers soon realized the poor bird was much too high up for them to reach on their own …
… so they requested some help from the local fire department and its cherry picker.
“This poor parrot was absolutely terrified; he is only 8 months old,” Natalie Avery, deputy chief inspector with the RSPCA, said in a press release. “Luckily he didn’t fly too far and his owner was able to keep an eye on him while we got the equipment necessary to rescue him."
Very carefully, the fire department brought the cherry picker right up to where Zazu was stuck …
… until rescuers were finally close enough to reach out and grab him without spooking him too much.
Poor Zazu was so scared and a little injured from his whole ordeal, but he let his rescuers pull him to safety, and was SO happy to be back with his dad again.
“We are very grateful to the fire service for providing a cherry picker and helping us with this rescue,” Avery said. “We are glad to have been able to reunite Zazu with his owner.”
As soon as he was safe and sound out of the tree, Zazu’s dad took him straight to the vet, where he was treated for some minor injuries. He’s happily resting and hanging with his dad at home now, and is expected to make a full recovery.
