Grumpiest-Looking Cat Is Actually Super Sweet

At first glance, it’s not hard to notice that Xherdan the cat has many striking features.

From his light turquoise eyes to his large, pointy ears, he’s definitely a unique-looking cat.

But his most remarkable characteristics are that he’s as wrinkly and grumpy-looking as they come — and his mom can’t get enough.

“When I first saw him, he immediately stole my heart,” Sandra Filippi, Xherdan’s mom, told The Dodo. “He’s such a special baby boy.”

Unlike other sphynx cats, Xherdan is a Canadian sphynx, who are less slender and have many more wrinkles than other sphynx cats. He lives in Switzerland with his mom alongside two other sphynx cats and one dog.

Although Xherdan may look different than other cats, he is not shy at all about showing off how special he is.

“He is just like a child,” Filippi said. “He speaks a great deal in all pitches. When he’s excited, when he’s hungry, when he’s playing, or when he’s cuddling … He is always talking.”

When he isn’t chatting someone’s ear off, he spends hours sitting by the window watching birds — a very important duty in the household.

“He watches everything,” Filippi said. “He always wants to know what is going on, so he often just wants to be where his humans are.”

Luckily, that calls for plenty of opportunities for sassy photo shoots for Xherdan’s Instagram page. He has thousands of followers who just love his wrinkly face and classic grumpy expressions.

But rest assured, despite his eternally scowled expression, Xherdan couldn’t be happier.

“He is always distracting me when I’m trying to do something because I always have to look into his blue eyes and give him lots of cuddles,” Filippi said. “He is the most beautiful cat there is. And he always makes me laugh.”
