Guy Takes A Nap Outside — Wakes Up With A Kitten On His Stomach

"Screw it, I'm keeping her.”

Ali Safa was looking forward to a nice lazy day. His only plans were to hang out at his home in Canberra, Australia, and play some video games.

He went to sit out in the garden to enjoy a little sunshine. But before he knew it, he was asleep.

When he awoke, he was not alone.

“I was taking a nap on the balcony of our house, and, like two hours later, I woke up and I found her just napping on my stomach,” Safa told The Dodo. “At first, I thought she was a rat.”

A tiny white kitten was sprawled across Safa’s stomach, purring contentedly. He looked down at her hairless pink ears and dirty little paws and felt something soften in his heart.

“I never really had a pet and I am a bit of a loner so I don’t have many friends, too,” Safa said. “While she was sleeping I kept hearing that ‘purr’ sound cats make and it was the cutest shit I have ever heard.”

Safa had seen plenty of stray cats roaming his neighborhood — but this was different. It was as if the kitten had somehow chosen him.

In disbelief, Safa snapped a quick selfie with the sleeping animal, careful not to wake her.

“[I] wasn’t really bothered if she has fleas or anything like that 'cause I thought to myself, ‘If she does have fleas, I probably already have fleas, too, so whatever,’” Safa said.

When the cat eventually woke up, she wasted no time in making demands.

“The first thing she does is step down [off] the sofa, look me in the eyes and start meowing nonstop for 20 seconds,” Safa wrote on Reddit. “She’s obviously hungry, so guess who’s sharing the chicken wings my mom made?”

Once the kitten had eaten her share, Safa took her inside for a bath. After 10 minutes, he realized the gray splotches on her fur were actually markings and not dirt. The kitten was patient in the water, and Safa began to fantasize about adopting her.

“There really aren’t any house rules against pets in my family and she looked like she can use some family, so I was like, ‘Screw it, I'm keeping her,’” Safa said.

He came up with the perfect name for her: Angel.

A trip to the vet clinic revealed that the kitten was healthy and without a microchip. Safa then drove her to the local supermarket, where he purchased cat food and a few toys.

It's only been two weeks since then, but everything has changed for Safa and Angel.

The little cat has a home of her own, and Safa has a friend who will always be at his side.

“All I can say is that she is the most fun cat I have ever gotten to play with,” Safa said. “All she does is just roam around me all the day wanting pets or to play.”

“I’d be on my laptop working and she would just jump on my keyboard and sit between my arms,” Safa added. “Picking her up and putting her down on the ground won't help because she would just jump right back up until she gets the petting she wants.”
