Cat Steals Balloon — And Is So Shocked When It Floats Away

He didn't understand 😂

Butterboy is 3 years old, but he often still acts like a kitten. He especially loves being places he shouldn’t be and playing with things that aren’t his, and his patient mom is always watching to see what he'll do next.

“He’s the sweetest cat ever but still very playful and can also be mischievous,” Lauren Bell, Butterboy’s mom, told The Dodo. “He plays fetch and acts like a dog most of the time, like getting in the shower, and he only drinks from the sink.”

When Bell was given a balloon at work recently, she brought it home with her — and as soon as he saw it, Butterboy knew he had to make it his.

“He found it pretty soon ’cause of the string,” Bell said.

The exciting balloon and dangly string were just too much for Butterboy to resist, and so when his mom wasn’t looking, he grabbed the string and began carrying the balloon around the house with him.

Butterboy was SO proud of his new balloon, pulling it this way and that, delighting in the string, but because he didn’t understand exactly what a balloon was, at one point he let the string go …

… and was absolutely shocked when the balloon floated away from him.

Butterboy’s face was priceless as he stared above him, confused as to what had just happened and why he no longer had his precious balloon. His mom kindly retrieved it and gave it back to him, but it wasn’t long before it went back to floating on the ceiling and Butterboy was left confused again.

His mom retrieved the balloon a few more times before finally giving up. It seemed that Butterboy would never quite grasp the concept of a balloon. It’s OK, though — the mischievous cat will definitely find something else that isn’t his to play with in no time.
