Cat Accidentally Gets Her Owner Elected To Town Council

Cats have an uncanny way of stirring up mischief without lifting a paw. Just ask Norwegian black metal rocker Gylve "Fenriz" Nagell.

His feline companion is arguably the reason he just got voted in to a four-year term on his local town council - a position Fenriz was really hoping not to get.

The newly elected Fenriz, who's been described as a legend in his genre of hardcore music, told CLRVYNT that it all began when he got a call asking if his name could be included on a list of candidates for "backup representative."

On a whim, he agreed.

"I said yeah, thinking I would be like 18th on the list and I wouldn't really have to do anything," Fenriz said. "They just need a list to be able to ... well, it's hard to talk local politics in another language."

But the rocker then made a crucial error in a bid to lose the election - he got his pet involved:

"My campaign was a picture of me holding my cat saying, 'Please don't vote for me.'"

The inclusion of his cute kitty, who's name is said to translate roughly as Peanut Butter, evidently had the opposite effect of dissuading voters from casting their ballots for him.

After all, who wouldn't vote for the guy holding a cat in his picture?

"... People just went nuts," Fenriz said. "After the election, the boss called me and told me I was a representative. I wasn't too pleased, and I'm not too pleased about it. It's boring. There's not a lot of money in that, either, I can tell you!"

Fenriz might not enjoy his role as politician, but he's apparently obligated to serve on the council for a four-year term before he can resign - but at least he doesn't seem to be holding it against the cat who helped put him there.

When asked if Peanut Butter will be attending the council meetings too, Fenriz replied:

"Aw ... no, she'd really hate that."
