Call for law change on ivory

We are SO proud of our brilliant friends and colleagues Virginia Woolf and Fiona Gordon, whose many months of hard work for a New Zealand ivory ban succeeded in convincing a government committee to move forward on this issue! Virginia is interviewed here on New Zealand's TVOne nationwide 'Breakfast Show' today. Virginia's petition, Fiona's report on ivory trade in NZ, and the open letter to the NZ government that many of YOU signed and sent has worked! The gov't committee considering the petition submitted a report to the NZ parliament on Friday 25 July and the issue will progress with further action! Thank you to our amazing GMFER website designer Aaron Schmidt for automating the letter and tweets on our website, and to Virginia and Fiona for their unwavering advocacy for elephants! The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos is pleased and grateful for the opportunity to support their work. Here is Fiona's press release with more details: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU1407/S00416/nz-select-committee-decision-on-ivory-trade-ban-petition.htm
