Baby Squirrel Gets A Tiny Cast After Falling From Nest

This baby squirrel is on the mend after she tumbled 75 feet from her nest onto the sidewalk below. Veterinarians at the City Wildlife clinic in Washington D.C. report that the furry youngster was left with a few injures from the fall, but is expected to make a speedy recovery.

"She suffered a bloody nose, a broken tooth, and a broken ankle. Luckily, just like children, this squirrel is young enough that her ankle should heal very quickly."

Chief Veterinarian Kelley McDonald, who fashioned a tiny cast for the adorable little patient, says that as windy weather approaches lots of baby squirrels arrive to her clinic with similar injuries having been knocked from their nests.

"Most of them are able to be returned to the wild," McDonald tells The Dodo. "Broken bones usually heal well. They do fine."
