Rescue Pig Wears Favorite Dress To Visit Pig Who Wants To Be Her Boyfriend
He is so in love with her.
Early Friday morning, Esther the Wonder Pig got dressed - with the help of her person, Steve Jenkins.
Then she went to have breakfast in the barn - and you could cut the tension with a knife.
See, Esther has been visiting Captain Dan, a pig rescued from a sanctuary that had fallen on hard times and couldn't care for him anymore. He was brought to Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary in Ontario, where Esther, the famous namesake of the sanctuary, lives - and pretty much runs things.
And it seems that Captain Dan has it bad for Esther, the lady of the sanctuary.
"He has taken quite a liking to Esther," Steve Jenkins, co-founder of the sanctuary, told The Dodo. "Unfortunately she doesn't seem to share the same feelings."
Jenkins said that he thinks Esther doesn't really think of herself as a pig. That could be because Esther was originally bought as a pet "mini pig" before she was adopted by Jenkins and his partner Derek Walter, who ended up changing their whole lives to start an animal sanctuary for Esther once she got big.
"She's fairly scared of the other big pigs," Jenkins said. "She's nervous, and often goes to stand close enough to see them, but out of reach."
It seems the lady of the sanctuary knows one of the age-old tricks in dating - playing hard to get. Friday morning, Esther stood right on the other side of the fence eating her breakfast while Captain Dan stared longingly at her.
"It's really funny," Jenkins said. "Her interaction with them is very limited by choice. She can see them whenever she wants, but she tends to avoid them at all costs."
