For a long time, Pauly was just a sweet neighborhood stray cat, except for one very unique feature: his two extra legs. Six-legged Pauly was being fed by kind strangers in his neighborhood in Edmonton, Canada, Global News reports.

Pauly has a very rare condition, which affects only one in 10,000 cats. His body absorbed his sibling's in-utero, leaving him with the extra limbs.

When his fans noticed that he was having trouble walking earlier this month and seemed to be in pain, they called local rescue group Little Cats Lost. Volunteers picked up Pauly and began to care for him, and at the same time they began to devise a plan to get the shy stray the surgery he needed to live a healthy life, and remove his extra legs.

Little Cats Lost contacted Edmonton veterinary surgeon Dr. Tamer Mahmoud, who devised a plan to get Pauly the three surgeries he needed - but the total cost of the care for Pauly would total over $2,000.

The rescue group set up a fundraising page for Pauly, which has already exceeded its goal (all extra funds will go towards their spaying and neutering program). In the meantime, Pauly moved into the clinic where his surgeries will be performed so he can take the time to learn to trust the medical staff there.

As soon as Pauly's surgeries are done and he's down to four legs, Little Cats Lost will begin looking for the right forever home for this sweet cat.

The rescue group keeps up a Facebook page just for Pauly, posting updates in his own voice. Earlier this week it put up a picture of Pauly with the caption "Good news! I'm feeling really well! My friends at Oxford Animal Hospital think I am almost ready for my first surgery to fix my hip."

Good lucky Pauly - no matter how many legs they have, all cats deserve love.
