There are about 10,000 to 20,000 big cats held in private ownership in the U.S. In the past 21 years, U.S. incidents involving captive big cats caused the deaths of 22 humans, 248 maulings, 260 escapes and 14 big cats deaths.
Big cats like lions, tigers and jaguars don't make good pets. Not only are they a danger to people, they often live in cramped conditions and are prone to be abandoned by their owners when they are too large to handle. Join us in pledging never to own a big cat as a pet, and tell others not to, either.
