Couple Catches Bear Enjoying A Relaxing Soak In Their Hot Tub

“We were totally shocked.”

Last Friday, Hannah Elizabeth Strickland and her boyfriend were on a peaceful getaway, savoring the cozy quiet of a remote cabin they'd rented in rural Tennessee.

But, as it turns out, they weren't the only ones in need of a little rest and relaxation.

The couple was lounging inside after enjoying a soak in the cabin's hot tub when, much to their surprise, they realized they were not alone. Looking outside, Strickland noticed a group of furry locals was astir.

"I saw a black bear butt walk around the corner of our porch. We ran to the bedroom windows and found three cubs," Strickland told The Dodo.

It was around this time that one of the cubs noticed Strickland and her boyfriend had left the hot tub uncovered. His interest was clearly piqued.

While the vacationing couple looked on from the window, that inquisitive cub slid into the tub's soothing waters — closing his eyes in euphoria, all his bear-y tension seeming to melt away in that moment.

He needed this.

Seeing the bear enjoying the soak was both unbelievable and totally relatable.

"We were totally shocked and laughed so hard," Strickland said. "I felt like I was watching myself in there."

After several minutes of pure serenity, the bear was apparently sated.

With that, the bear climbed out and rejoined the others, and they continued merrily on their way. The coast now clear, Strickland decided it best to close up the lid, lest the allure of the tub beckoned him once again.

And sure enough, it did.

"They came back a little while later, but left as soon as they saw what we had done," Strickland said.

Still, the couple doesn't have any hard feelings toward that uninvited guest making the most of their cabin's amenities. It's one of the reasons they'd picked that spot to rent in the first place.

"I don’t blame him at all," Strickland said. "We were looking forward to the hot tub the most!"
