Mail Carrier Notices Something Moving On Sidewalk On Her Route

She'd been waiting for days for someone to notice her 💔

A mail carrier was walking through a neighborhood in Texas last week when she spotted a tiny, furry blob on the sidewalk — and quickly realized it was a kitten. She stopped to post about the cat in a few different rescue groups on social media, then continued on her route, hoping someone would be able to come out and help

But the next day she passed by the same spot and saw that the kitten was still there, and hadn’t moved an inch.

Realizing the kitten must be sick and in desperate need of help, the mail carrier contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescuers, which quickly arranged for someone to go out and collect the poor kitten, who was later named Thor.

“Thor looked like she had completely given up on life,” Lindsay Haglund, foster coordinator with Coastal Bend Cat Rescuers, told The Dodo. “She was extremely dehydrated, anemic, flea-infested, weak, tired, covered with mange and appeared to be suffering from heat exhaustion. One of our team members, Nadia, sent her husband Mike to the location and he scooped Thor up off the sidewalk with ease; she did not resist being rescued.”

Mike didn’t have a cat carrier with him at the time, so he carried Thor back to his car and placed her in the front seat, and there she stayed for the entire ride home. She was so sick and tired she could barely move, and her rescuers were so relieved that they were able to save her in time.

Mike and Nadia are now Thor’s foster parents, and they’re doing everything they can to help her recover. She’s 6 weeks old and weighs far less than she should, but she seems to be getting a little bit stronger every day. After she was seen by a vet, it was determined that Thor has an infection caused by an injury on her leg, which is probably why she was curled up on the sidewalk, unable to move. She’s on antibiotics to cure the infection, and her foster mom has been using a heating pad to keep her warm until she gains a little weight and her body temperature goes back to normal.

Despite her extensive issues, Thor is loving life in her foster home, and seems so happy and grateful to finally be off of the streets.

“Thor is very sassy and lovable,” Haglund said. “She always meows and greets her foster mom and dad when they enter the room. She begs to be pet and cuddled.”

Thor will stay with her foster family for at least a month while she continues to heal. Once she is completely healthy again, she will be put up for adoption and will finally have her very own forever home.
